New Permit Filed for Soarin’ Update at EPCOT Hints at Fresh Queue Enhancements
A new permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering is giving us something to soar about at EPCOT, and it might just bring some fresh magic to one of the park’s most iconic attractions. The Notice of Commencement points to “installation of set elements” at Soarin‘ Around the World, just ahead of its upcoming transformation into Soarin’ Across America.

The timing here is key. The attraction is scheduled to close on May 14 and reopen on May 26 with its new film, meaning whatever is being added needs to be quick to install and likely pre-built. That short turnaround suggests we are not looking at a massive overhaul, but rather a targeted enhancement that could elevate the guest experience, especially in the queue where storytelling has always been a bit… grounded.
The contractor listed, Icarus Exhibits, has quite the Imagineering résumé, with past work on everything from TRON Lightcycle Run to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Their involvement points toward a thoughtfully designed addition, possibly a new prop or immersive element that ties directly into the Across America theme. Think something that adds a sense of place before you even buckle in for takeoff.
