New Arches Rise at Former PizzeRizzo as Monstropolis Transformation Takes Shape at Hollywood Studios
Something is definitely cooking in Monstropolis… and this time, it’s not just pizza. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, construction crews are giving the former PizzeRizzo building a fresh new look as the park continues its massive transformation of Muppets Courtyard into a city powered by screams and laughs.

Five brand-new arches have been installed along the length of the building’s facade, stretching across the patio area where guests once grabbed a slice under Rizzo the Rat’s watchful eye. The architectural update adds a whole new layer of visual intrigue, even if Disney is keeping the final theme of this location tucked behind a Monsters, Inc. door for now.
The former quick-service spot has quite the glow-up history. It originally opened as Pizza Planet Arcade before being reimagined as PizzeRizzo in 2016, then ultimately closed in June 2025 alongside the rest of Muppets Courtyard, including MuppetVision 3D.
Now, the entire area is being reborn as Monstropolis, inspired by Monsters, Inc., and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest changes at the park in years. Just beyond the former courtyard, construction is underway for a brand-new coaster that will feature Disney’s first-ever suspended ride system and a vertical lift. Yes, doors won’t just be for scaring anymore, they’ll be sending you skyward.

While Disney hasn’t officially revealed what this particular building will become, it’s widely expected to return as a quick-service restaurant with a completely new theme. Meanwhile, nearby Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is set to transform into Harryhausen’s, the iconic sushi spot seen in the Monsters, Inc. film.
As for the former MuppetVision 3D theater, that space remains a mystery for now. One thing is clear though, Monstropolis is slowly but surely coming to life, one arch at a time.
