New Epic Universe Permit Confirms Expansion Tied to Wizarding World of Harry Potter
It looks like Universal is stirring up something magical behind the scenes, because the latest Epic Universe permit just got a very revealing update. The construction permit filed last month has officially moved to review, and a brand-new note now confirms what every wizard, witch, and muggle has been buzzing about: this one is designated for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic! So grab your Floo Powder and hold on tight, because things are getting interesting.

The permit, filed by Baker Barrios Architects on behalf of Universal, lists “new construction” plus utility and foundation work for 1001 Epic Blvd, right inside Area P905. Park fans will recognize that codename as the Ministry of Magic land that anchors the current Wizarding World in Epic Universe. The permit covers roughly 150,000 square feet, which is about the size of the existing land, and notably does not include truss engineering or tree removal. Translation: something significant is coming, but the groundwork appears more targeted than a complete overhaul.

There’s also plenty of physical space between the current Wizarding World and the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which lines up beautifully with long-running expansion chatter. The vibe here is that Universal is prepping the canvas, whether it’s for a brand-new structure or further development of what’s already in place. And honestly, it’s not surprising. Universal executives have been teasing expansion plans since before Epic Universe even opened. As Universal Orlando Resort’s President Karen Irwin said earlier this year, “We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic.”
Whatever it is, it’s clear the Ministry has approved more magic. And we cannot wait to see what Universal conjures next.
