Brightline is currently working on a new rail line connecting southern and central Florida. With that new line, disputes have come out regarding the extension from the Orlando airport to Disney World. Now, a new proposal could put a rail line between the airport, Universal Orlando, AND Walt Disney World.

Reporter Greg Fox shared the following on Twitter:
“#Sunrail#Brightline The Sunrail Board meeting just revealed that a proposal for the “Sunshine Corridor” could deliver a Brightline train route from @MCO to I-Drive and @UniversalORL then to @WaltDisneyWorld and Tampa. @WESH“
The “Sunshine Corridor” would build tracks from the Orlando airport to a station near the Orange County Convention Center and then to south International Drive. This proposal would cost nearly $1 billion.
Brightline originally wanted to bypass I-Drive due to costs but Universal and I-Drive businesses have partnered to pledge “$125 million for rail and station construction, 13 acres for a station site, a guaranteed $13 million in annual ticket sales and $2 million annually for maintenance.”

Disney World is still expected to get its own exclusive Brightline station.
These new rail lines will provide Orlando guests with another option for getting from the airport to their theme park vacation.
