The new baby aardvark is named Hazelnut and was born to mom Peanut. The two have been spending quality bonding time together backstage.
Hazelnut is full of energy and started digging within the first hour of birth, which is a great sign for her development!
Dr. Mark Penning shared all about the baby aardvark on Instagram:
“Say hello to Hazelnut, the newest member of the aardvark family. 🥳
Hazelnut is the second cub to be born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and she has been spending quality time backstage bonding with her mom Peanut. ✨
Did you know aardvarks can dig burrows up to 42 feet long (13 meters) with more than one entrance? Aardvarks have strong arms and claws that work like miniature shovels, making them experts at digging and allowing them to find ants, termites and other food.
Hazelnut is full of energy and started digging within the first hour of birth, which is a great sign for her development!”
