On a recent trip to Walt Disney World, I was looking for new restaurants to try. It had to be a special place where my family and I could have a quiet, delicious dinner. After plenty of searching, I found a restaurant with an interesting menu in a great location. Enter: Narcoossee’s.
Narcoossee’s is a signature dining restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort. Tucked away in the back of the resort, the restaurant stands on its own alongside the Seven Seas Lagoon. It is simply breathtaking. When my family and I arrived at the Grand Floridian, it took us a while to find the Narcoossee’s. If you secure advanced dining reservations at Narcoossee’s, allow yourself enough time to not only travel to the resort, but to get to the restaurant from the main building.
We had a reservation right when the restaurant opened, so it was fairly empty. We were immediately overwhelmed with so many choices on the menu. The selection is appropriate for a wide-range of appetites, but their specialty is seafood. While we perused the menu, our waitress brought us out warm bread (which was fresh out of the oven) with salted butter. Yum!
My sister and father immediately knew what they were getting — the surf and turf. This is Narcoossee’s signature dish, and it did not disappoint. The lobster was fresh and juicy, and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. Both my mother and I ordered the filet, and I could not have liked my dish any better! It was oozing with flavor. The loaded mashed potatoes were so creamy — right up there with the delicious mashed potatoes at Le Cellier! My other sister opted for the chicken, and like the other dishes at our table, it was top notch.
The entrees were a success, but to be honest, I had my eye on dessert. Between the five of us, we selected two different desserts: the almond-crusted cheesecake and the strawberry shortcake. It took a little bit longer than expected for our desserts to arrive, but when they did, our jaws just about dropped to the table. I have never seen a more beautifully constructed dessert — ever! They tasted even better than they looked. The strawberries were so fresh, the shortcake was light, and if were appropriate for such a nice restaurant, I would have licked my plate! The desserts were a truly decadent ending to an amazing dining experience.
Throughout the entire meal, everyone kept saying — why haven’t we heard more about this place? I can’t help but think while writing this that I’m revealing Disney’s actual best kept secret (sorry, Disney Vacation Club). It would also be a great spot to catch Wishes from. We can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend you consider Narcoossee’s on your next trip.
