“It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights”…Or maybe not. It looks like Muppet Vision 3D may be reducing their operating hours. According to Walt Disney Worlds website the attraction is now listed as opening at 10:00 AM- an hour after Hollywood Studios opens- and closing at 6:00 PM. Though changes like this are often temporary as a way to reduce operational costs during slower seasons, it appears that this change could be permanent. As of this writing, the website shows these limited hours remain in effect even on Christmas Day, which is historically an extremely busy day for Disney Parks. The website shows reduced hours until April 22, 2019, though these things are always subject to change.
Though not an original attraction to Hollywood Studios (then called Disney MGM Studios), Muppet Vision 3D opened just two years after on May 16, 1991. The 15-minute 3D film is beloved by many and includes all of the hilarious hijinks we have come to expect from The Muppets.
While Disney has not stated any intent to close the attraction, changes like this do tend to happen when a closure is imminent. With the re-imagining of Hollywood Studios, we wouldn’t be surprised if an announcement was made sometime in the near future. We’ll keep an eye out and bring you all the details if an announcement is made.
