We attended our first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on September 20th and had a great time. In case you don’t know, the Halloween Party is a hard ticket event on select nights from September to the first of November. The Magic Kingdom was beautifully decorated and took on a spooky feeling but you know, not too scary.
The biggest question I have gotten about the party is if I thought it was worth the money. I would have to say yes. The Boo to You Parade is now one of my favorites and I loved HalloWishes. It was fun getting the chance to see characters that aren’t normally out in the parks like the Seven Dwarfs and Flynn Ryder. It was also fun to dress up. My husband and I went as Phineas and Isabella. I was nervous about it at first but we weren’t the only adults dressed up and even other couples like us that were there without children. If you have the chance to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party I highly recommend going. If you do attend, here are a few tips.If you are picking up your tickets at will call, which we did so we didn’t pay shipping and handling, you can pick up your tickets at the Ticket and Transportation Ticket booths. This saved us some time since they ticket booths there were not crowded at all. Just make sure you have your confirmation with you. If you are spending the entire day at the Magic Kingdom, there were Cast Members in different areas of the park who could scan your confirmation and give you your wrist band so you don’t have to leave and come back in.
When it comes to meeting characters you need to have a plan. Lines can be long so you need to decided which characters are the most important to you and plan accordingly. The Seven Dwarfs meet and greet seemed to be the most popular followed by Jack Sparrow and the Disney Princesses and Princes. We got in line to see the Seven Dwarfs at 6:00 PM. By the time they came out at 7:00 PM, it was already over an hour wait to meet them. While we did wait an hour, we didn’t waste any valuable party time and were on our way to see other things at 7:05 PM.
Don’t miss the Boo to You Parade or HalloWishes. The night we went neither of the parades were very crowded but the second parade is the way to go. Also keep in mind that the parade starts in Frontierland so if you are on Main Street, the parade won’t get to you for 10 to 15 minutes. And make sure you are paying attention when they announce the Headless Horseman. We thought we would have a couple of minutes after the announcement but he was there and gone in the blink of an eye.Don’t forget about the candy! If you can, trick or treat later in the evening. The Cast Members started handing out more candy per person as the evening went on. And don’t forget that adults can trick or treat too.

I LOVE MNSSHP :0) Great review Mel! :0)
Great summary of MNSSHP. I’ve only been once and agree that you definitely need a plan if you want to see characters like the Seven Dwarves. Thanks!
We went to this a few years ago. I would definitely do it again, because I love the parade! My girls had the best time. We loved being able to get on rides with minimal wait times. They prefer this time of year over Christmas. The only complaint We had was it was actually too cold for them to wear their costumes without their coats the night we went. Can’t wait to go again!
We did this party during my daughter’s birthday/first trip and we had a BLAST.
My 11-yr-old son & I went at Disneyland & loved it. We didn’t get there until 8pm & still had a blast! We loved the parades, fireworks & unusual characters & ended up with 12lbs of candy. We dressed as skeleton pirates. Worth every penny!
Funny, we attended the same night you did. I did not so much enjoy it this year. Last year was fantastic. We didn’t have to wait too long to see the first parade, and got to do SO much more than this year. This year it was PACKED, and the candy lines were ridiculous! We really enjoyed the parade, though had to wait about an hour to get a good spot for the second parade. A woman that we talked to said that she had gone the previous Friday and it was almost empty. I guess there’s no way to predict what night would be the best to go, because I would think that a Tuesday would be a much better choice than a Friday, but I guess not.
We went two years ago on Halloween night…I think that was a big mistake because it was soooooooo crowded. We will be trying it again just not on Halloween……the Headless Horseman was awesome!
I have never been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!! I am looking forward to going one day.
This is definitely our favorite hard ticket event! The hallowishes fireworks are the best!
DDefinitly want to go next year this year we ate going to the Christmas party
This is the one party I’ve always wanted to go to. Being a teacher in MA, the timing isn’t great. After talking to my sister who is down there for the Food & Wine race, I think I have to go to see both!
This had some very good info. I didn’t realize that adults could trick or treat, as well. I would love to go!
This is my favorite time to visit WDW! The party is so much fun but the Headless Horseman is my favorite thing – he never ceases to impress me! You’re lucky to see all 7 dwarves too! They don’t get together very often!
Can’t wait to go, It looks like it is so much fun, we have been to all the other special tickets parties and they are all fantastic!
I loved the Boo to you parade!
So cool to see the less common characters, party looks cool!
We are not huge Halloween fans, but this might be worth it one year just to see all the 7 Dwarfs together!!!
This is going to be our first year going and we can’t wait! We would love to meet the 7 Dwarfs, but I’m not sure my 3.99 year old will want to wait an hour! I plan on dressing up with her too btw! I’m going to be Mrs Potts!
We were hoping to make this our first year to attend MNSSHP but it’ll have to wait for next year (I couldn’t get dd’s costume finished in time) So glad to get your insight –we’ll be well prepared next year
Thanks for the article! I’m really hoping to go to MNSSHP for my birthday next year, so I’m trying to read as many reviews as I can about it! Love your pics!
We went to this for the first time this year too. I thought it was worth the money also. Boo To You Parade was good and seeing the headless horsemen was cool.
Looks like so much fun. Will add to our must do list for our 2012 trip!!!!
I have always wanted to do this party!! We would love to see all the dwarfs!! We did get to see the Carriage though at one of the Pirate and Princess Parties – they were so much fun – miss them!!! There is nothing like the fireworks at the parties!!
We are going on Oct 11th. So excited!! Cannot wait!!
My wife and I went back in 2003, it was one of our most favorite times to go to Disney World with all the lights and decorations. Plus it doesn’t hurt that Halloween is one of her favorite times of the year.
Your review really makes me want to go. I’ve never gone to one of the special park events, too afraid to spend extra money, geesh!
We done the MNSSHP for the first time on Sept 13 2011. We had a blast. My favorite was meeting Jack Sparrow and getting pic made with him and his autograph. The fireworks and parade id the best that I have seen at WDW. We also got our tickets at Will Call when we checked in our resort.
MVMCP in December hoping it will be as good. The parade was awesome to. And the kids loved the trick or treating.
Awesome! I am so excited to go to the Not So Scary sometime soon – Halloween is my favorite holiday. Just waiting until lil one can actually stay awake long enough to enjoy it 🙂
Awesome 🙂 I don’t usually get into the halloween mood in sept, but going to this would change that!
I’ve never done this bu always visit in October. After reading many reviews I think I will be attending next year.
I would love to go to this someday!
This sounds like so much fun, hoping to go there during Halloween some day! (Thanks for posting on FB about the contest or the Lion King, I might have missed it!)
