Sew Much Sustainability
Maggie, a costuming area manager, is stitching together change — quite literally. She created a sustainability toolkit for costume design and manufacturing, giving teams the tools to create zero-waste looks and source certified eco-friendly materials. Her leadership also sparked new recycling programs for shoes, garments, and scrap fabrics, helping Disney reduce waste one stitch at a time.

A Glass Act at Disney Catering
Meanwhile, the Catering Event Operations team is turning bottles into magic. Using Disney’s in-house glass pulverizer, they’ve diverted over eight tons of glass from landfills. The crushed glass has found new life nurturing plants at EPCOT and even paving new ground at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Now that’s what we call a glittering example of innovation!

Cleaning Up in Style
Housekeeping Director Eric is sweeping sustainability to the forefront. He’s expanded custodial recycling programs to include soft plastics and glass reuse while teaming up with departments across property to reinforce the importance of responsible waste management. His approach is helping embed greener habits into everyday resort operations.

Recycling That Pops
And behind the scenes, Disney Live Entertainment’s Eco-Techs are keeping the spotlight shining bright — and sustainably. Since 2023, their “Orange Bin” program has recycled over 44,000 pounds of e-waste, pyro tubes, and show materials, ensuring that even the most dazzling spectacles leave a lighter footprint.
From costuming to custodial, catering to concerts, these Cast Members are proving that environmental stewardship is a story worth telling. Their creativity, collaboration, and commitment are helping Walt Disney World keep the magic green — one eco-friendly idea at a time.
