‘Thor 2’ is slowly starting to move forward. A few weeks ago, rumors were circulating that Brian Kirk, director of of many episodes of the popular series ‘Game of Thrones’, had been offered the directing gig for the Marvel Studios sequel. But if appears that Brian Kirk has passed on the offer and Marvel has set their sits on a new candidate: Patty Jenkins.
Jenkins name isn’t going to be well known by most people seeing as she’s only directed one feature film, which was the 2003 film ‘Monster’, starring Charlize Theoron, as well as episodes of ‘Arrested Development’, ‘Entourage’, and the pilot episode of AMC’s ‘The Killing’. Seeing as Jenkins has only directed one feature film, this is a bold move on Marvel’s part. But she has obviously brought something to the table that the studio is interested in, so this is definitely something to keep an eye on. It really is an interesting move, and I for one hope she gets the job. Her work on ‘Monster’ was great, and she showed she could get the most out of her actors and actresses in the film, which could possibly make ‘Thor 2’ one of the strongest acted Marvel films yet.
‘Thor 2’ will see Chris Hemsworth returning to the role of the god of thunder for third time, as well as co-star Tom Hiddleston as his brother Loki. Details about the movies plot are still unknown at this time, but you can look for it in theaters on July 26, 2013.
