Disney Consumer Products (DCP) has unveiled new toys inspired by the most anticipated movie releases of the summer: “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Disney•Pixar’s “Brave” and Sony Pictures’ “The Amazing Spider-Man.” This exciting product assortment features dolls, action figures, costumes and role play toys inspired by favorite Marvel Super Heroes and Disney•Pixar’s newest heroine, the bold and adventurous Merida.
Opening in theaters May 4, Marvel Studios presents “Marvel’s The Avengers”—the Super Hero team-up of a lifetime featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. On July 4, Sony Pictures’ “The Amazing Spider-Man,” based on the Marvel comic book, opens in theaters nationwide.
On June 22, Disney•Pixar introduces a dynamic new heroine, Merida, in “Brave.” The film is a grand adventure set in ancient Scotland and is filled with heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humor that audiences of all ages will enjoy. Three hot summer toys destined to be big hits with kids and fans were recently recognized as summer “must-haves” on Time to Play magazine’s “Most Wanted Summer Toys” list: the Merida Fashion Play Doll by Mattel, Merida Toddler Doll by Tollytots and “The Amazing Spider-Man” Electronic Figure by Hasbro.
MARVEL PRODUCT ASSSORTMENT
Disney Store: Straight out of “Marvel’s The Avengers” are the Captain America and Hulk Costume sets for boys (SRP $49.50). Disney Store’s detailed Captain America costume features a glow-in-the-dark star and includes his famous mask as well as boot covers, gauntlets and a detachable belt. Hulk’s detailed costume features a suit with Hulk’s signature muscles and comes with a green Hulk mask and boot covers. This fall, Iron Man and Thor costume sets will be available at Disney Store locations nationwide.
Hasbro: “The Amazing Spider-Man” Electronic Figure (SRP $19.99) is a 10-inch figure featuring a light-up chest insignia and web launcher that enables our hero to fire three different web projectiles. This interactive action figure also speaks iconic phrases from the film. “The Amazing Spider-Man” wall-crawling action figure is anticipated to be one of the hottest toys of the summer (SRP $34.99). This incredible remote-controlled speed-climbing Spider-Man figure climbs walls and other surfaces for exciting wall-crawling action.
JADS International: “Supernatural” scents are captured in “Marvel’s The Avengers” colognes and perfume collection. Available at www.jadsinternational.com, “Marvel’s The Avengers” Cologne Set (SRP $59.99) includes four heroic fragrances: Patriot Cologne, Your Attack Plan inspired by Captain America; Mark VII Cologne, Armor Up inspired by Iron Man; Worthy Cologne, Posses the Power: inspired by Thor; and SMASH!, Be Angry inspired by Hulk. Additional fragrances include Black Widow Perfume (SRP $29.99); Infinity Formula Cologne (SRP $29.99) inspired by Nick Fury; and Mischief Cologne (SRP $29.99) inspired by the villain, Loki.
LEGO: With the Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout set, kids can play with multiple Marvel mini-figures: Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Loki. The set features the Hulk and Thor capturing Loki on board the Avengers’ awesome Helicarrier (SRP $49.00). The set features a containment cell that simulates an explosion and a firing fuel canister holder. Builders can role play by freeing Loki and then using the function-packed jet fighter to escape.
Romance was Born: Romance Was Born and Marvel have unveiled “Berserkergang!,” a new Spring/Summer 2012-13 fashion collection that officially opened Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012. Inspired by the power of color and the pop appeal of Marvel Comics and their iconic Super Heroes, the designers were attracted to the graphic artistry of Marvel’s creators, in particular the legendary Jack Kirby. Kirby’s unique rendering technique, dubbed “Kirby dots,” creates a cinematic style of motion where the characters appear to leap, fly and battle across the page, and this style can be seen throughout the fashion line.
