Mario Kart World: Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo surprised fans with the official announcement of Mario Kart World, the highly anticipated ninth installment in the beloved racing franchise.

Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart World, the next major installment in the Mario Kart franchise, will launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2024. The game will be a launch exclusive for the new console. To provide a deeper look, a Mario Kart World Direct is set to air on April 17th at 6:00 a.m. PT.

The initial preview video provided glimpses into the game’s features, highlighting various track designs, customizable character outfits, and newly implemented racing mechanics.

Mario Kart’s immersive world is expanding beyond the screen and into physical play. LEGO has unveiled a new Mario Kart building set, now available for pre-order, offering fans a tangible way to engage with the franchise. Simultaneously, Universal Orlando Resort prepares to launch Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge on May 22nd, bringing the racing action to life within Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World. This follows the successful introductions of the same attraction at Universal Studios Japan in 2021 and Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023.
