Mardi Gras at Walt Disney World!
Yesterday, we went to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort to see their Mardi Gras celebration. It’s a hidden gem for families seeking New Orleans entertainment with a Disney twist.
First, Disney held a Mardi Gras Pargo Parade with decorative golf carts for resort guests and visitors. This year’s theme was “Blast From Magic Past” and featured tributes to former Walt Disney World attractions.
The parade started with jazz performers leading the golf carts. Each float was made to represent iconic attractions from Disney Parks history.
The Cast Members in the parade handed out beads and candy. It’s great to see the Cast Members having fun while interacting with guests.
The float dedicated to the Spectacle of Dancing Lights was a unique one! They played Christmas music while blowing soapy “snow” from the top of this float.
Guests enjoyed seeing throwbacks to Toon Town and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. We even saw tributes to retired Disney parades and fireworks shows.
We returned at night to discover more festivities! The resort had music playing and two special guests from The Princess and the Frog. Both Dr. Facilier and Louis took turns meeting guests in the resort lobby. These characters rarely see guests for meet and greet opportunities these days. So it was a special treat to see them there!
We had fun enjoying Mardi Gras at Walt Disney World yesterday. Be sure to check out Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort next year if you’re visiting on Mardi Gras!
