Malfunction During Aladdin Stage Show Prompts Evacuation

Malfunction During Aladdin Stage Show Prompts Evacuation

During yesterday’s 4:50PM performance of the popular stage show “Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular” at California Adventure, a cable supporting Aladdin and Jasmine’s flying carpet snapped, causing the actors to flip upside-down. The show was halted immediately, and the Hyperion Theater was evacuated.

Both performers were harnessed and were uninjured in the incident.

A video of the incident surfaced on YouTube and can be watched here.

The magic carpet is part of the “A Whole New World” scene, where Aladdin and Jasmine take flight over the audience. It is unsure when, or if, the magic carpet will return to the show.

  1. The other reports I’ve read have stated that was the issue. If you can link me to something that says that was not the issue, I will gladly edit my post.
