Hola! How is everyone? I know you have missed me. I would miss me too! I am always busy working on more gossip for all of my fans. Mainly because Chippy keeps pushing me for more and more info, you know how he is. Anyway I have it on pretty good authority that soon Disney Resort guests might soon be able to use their MagicBands as their parking permit.

I have been saying they need to do this for quite some time now, but I know all good things come to those who wait. I was always annoyed by having to put that paper thing in my window. I am not big on advertising who I am but you know that already.

One or two resorts have already started testing it. When you go to park at a theme park you just scan your band to enter. When you get back to your resort you can use the faster lane, you know the one without the guard, and scan your band and bam you are in. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

It will work the same if you have an R.F.I.D card instead of a band.

We don’t know when this will happen or when the testing will be done. You know as soon as we know you will know, so stay tuned!

Any who this all the Disney gossip I have for now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at anonymouse@chipandco.com or on my Facebook page.

Anonymouse searches the internet, annoys cast members, and wouldn’t think twice about using a Ouija board to find you the freshest Disney Gossip. Some of what she’ll report is confirmed, some is based on information from the rumor mill, and some, frankly, she just read on the bathroom wall in Fantasyland. So take it with a grain of salt and have fun!

  1. We have used our Magic bands to enter our resort during 2 of our visits when we had a rental car. Last May at Caribbean Beach and January 2014 at PORiverside. We were able to pull up to the gate on the right, scan our bands (or cards) and enter. I am pretty sure we also had a paper parking permit in the front window and we could only use our bands at our own resort. When we visited the Contemporary and the Poly for dinner, we had to show an ID or have the security guard scan our band.

  2. Karen- The MagicBands will be able to tell if they are a current Disney guest, and shouldn’t allow them in just because they have one. Simply owning a MagicBand does not give you all the perks of a resort guest, it is connected to your My Disney Experience. It’s just a convenient way to carry all that info in one place. This would not be an addition of gates around the resort, just a different way to activate the gates. I think it’s a great idea!

  3. Dear Chip,
If anyone stays off property, they could go to the Contemporary and show their license to get in to the resort and park there. What would stop them from parking and leaving their car there all day and walking over to MK until 1a.m.? If Magic Bands do not require having a paper parking tag in the window, any longer, how will they know they are not a resort guest? Will they tie your vehicle’s license plate or the VIN to your Magic Band somehow when you are staying at a resort? Parking at the Contemporary is a much faster way to get in and out of MK than the MK parking lot. I have an AP so I don’t pay for parking but, those who would have to pay $17 could park at a resort for free, without paper parking tags in the window. Actually they may park at any resort for free and take a bus, boat or monorail.

  4. If they are going to put gates up at all the park entrances, then I don’t like the idea. I just see a lot of backed-up lines because someones band doesn’t work or someone doesn’t know what they are doing.
