Look Who’s Talking Co-Star John Travolta Pays Tribute to the Late Kirstie Alley

Last night we shared the news that Kirstie Alley passed away at 71 years young after battling her recently discovered cancer. Her family broke the news around 8 pm on Monday night.

We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,” Alley’s children True and Lillie Parker wrote in a statement that was shared on Alley’s Twitter. “She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

“Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren, and her many animals, not to mention our eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did,” they added. “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Shortly after the news broke friend and co-star John Travolta shared a touching message on his Instagram account for Kirstie.

“Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had,” Travolta’s caption reads. “I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”

John and Kirstie not only starred together in the 1989 film Look Who’s Talking but in two sequels, the 1990’s Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now.

For Disney, she made a guest appearance as her Cheers character in a segment of the television special, Mickey’s 60th Birthday, along with the rest of the Cheers cast including Ted Danson, John Ratzenberger, and Kelsey Grammer. She also portrayed Sarah Rennell in the thriller, Shoot to Kill and Katherine Lewis/Tooth Fairy in the Disney Television film, Toothless.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
