After the successful premiere of Disney’s Aladdin (2019) the studio was quick to announce a sequel and a spin-off based on the live-action film. The sequel will reportedly feature the main cast of Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie, and the spin-off will feature a story about Prince Anders, one of Jasmine’s suitors and his family as well as the origins of Genie and will premiere on Disney+.
Reportedly, the Disney+ original movie will follow the events that led to Genie’s imprisonment and will be tied to Prince Ander’s family. According to those close to production, Billy Magnussen will return as Prince Anders. Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme have signed on to pen the script, with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich returning to produce.
