Lin-Manuel Miranda Reacts to Hearing “Weird Al” Yankovic’s “The Hamilton Polka“. We don’t know how we missed our shot to feature this story! Back in 2018, “Weird Al” Yankovic recorded “The Hamilton Polka” and immediately original show creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, was a fan. For those who are unfamiliar with the polka’s inspiration, “Hamilton” is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

During an interview with Jimmy Fallon and “Weird Al” Yankovic shortly after the release of The Hamilton Polka, Miranda admitted that after hearing it for the first time he immediately spoke with Quest Love from The Roots, and they joked that Lin-Manuel has now peaked because “Weird Al” made a parody of his work. Lin-Manuel’s wife recorded his initial reaction to the song and lets just say it will be hard not to smile or laugh along with him! Check out his reaction in the video shared below:

As if that wasn’t enough, a fan of the Polka created their own rendition using footage from the #Hamilfilm now on Disney+, and the results are equally hilarious. You can watch The Hamilton Polka with movie clips in the video shared below:
