Many Performers, Singer-Songwriters, and Creators strive to earn a variety of achievements throughout their careers and lifetimes. One of the loftiest goals is to earn an award combination called the “E.G.O.T.” In order to reach this elusive achievement, the recipient must earn at least one Emmy Award (E), Grammy Award (G), Oscar/Academy Award (O), and Tony Award (T) each.

This award season, Lin-Manuel Miranda will have another shot at earning his E.G.O.T. if Disney’s Encanto or Netflix’s Tick, Tick… Boom! wins big at the 2022 Oscars this April. Miranda has already earned three Tony Awards, three Grammys, and two Emmys, but has yet to earn an Oscar for his work. His career has taken off since the release of the hit musical Hamilton, and in recent years Lin-Manuel and Disney have partnered on several projects including Moana, Encanto, The Little Mermaid, and several projects currently in development at the entertainment studios.
Currently, Encanto holds three nominations for The Academy Awards including Best Animated Picture, Best Original Song (Dos Oruiguitas), and Best Original Soundtrack. Lin-Manuel’s work as director on Tick, Tick… Boom! will also give him the opportunity to win big since the film has earned nominations for Best Film Editing and Best Actor (Andrew Garfield).
