The trailer’s impact was immediate and widespread. Within an hour of its debut, “Lilo & Stitch” soared to the number one trending spot on Twitter/X, maintaining a top 10 position for hours afterward. The momentum continued on YouTube, where the trailer also claimed the coveted number one trending spot. Demonstrating its global appeal, the trailer even reached the pinnacle of popularity on China’s Douyin platform.
This remarkable reception builds upon the already substantial buzz surrounding the film. The first glimpse of the iconic alien, Stitch, at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event last August fueled anticipation. Further amplifying the excitement, a Super Bowl spot featuring Stitch “crashing” the field garnered a phenomenal 173.1 million views in just 24 hours, cementing its place as Disney’s most-viewed digital spot.

“Lilo & Stitch” promises to deliver the heartwarming and humorous story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the mischievous alien who helps her rebuild her family. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, with a screenplay penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes, the film features a stellar cast including Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, and introducing Maia Kealoha.
Produced by Jonathan Eirich, p.g.a. and Dan Lin, with Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher serving as executive producers, “Lilo & Stitch” is set to exclusively premiere in theaters on May 23, 2025. With its record-breaking trailer and fervent fan engagement, the film is poised to become a major cinematic event.
