This summer Walt Disney Studios treats audiences to two heartwarming and hilarious animated comedies about bringing friends and family together even when they seem worlds apart in one fun “Lilo and Stitch” 2-movie collection.
“Lilo and Stitch” is the story of Lilo, a lonely little girl, and Stitch the mischievous little creature from outer space. When Stitch crash-lands in Hawaii, Lilo adopts him as her pet, but he soon turns her world upside down.
In the first installment we get to see our favorite characters come to life with amazingly vivid color and sound. Lilo and Stitch has always been a favorite of mine and will continue to be for a very long time. Lilo is a little girl who is out casted by her fellow hula dancers because she’s different. What I love about this movie is that Lilo has such a feisty nature and is always willing to stand up for herself even if it means being branded an outcast. Then there’s Stitch a little blue alien with a killer demeanor but a soft heart underneath he’s fuzzy and blue and totally adorable. We meet him as experiment 626 a creation of the evil genius Jumba. For an evil genius he’s surprisingly kind hearted but he still has those evil moments. Then there’s Pleakely the one eyed nature loving agent of the galaxy. Pleakely loves to go by the rules which might become a problem since he has to do work with an evil genius.
Then there’s Nani Lilo’s older sister and guardian. She loves Lilo although she does push her button quite a lot! Nani makes a big attempt throughout the entire film to take care of Lilo as a mother figure. Nani has her own set of problems when Agent Bubbles come to check on her care of Lilo. We also can’t forget David he’s desperately falling for Nani and she sadly has no time for him. This entire film will tug at the heartstrings. From Lilo and her fight to show she can be normal or Stich and his fight to stay with the Ohana he’s come to know. Together Lilo and Stitch are unstoppable they’re the only ones who understand each other through and through.
The bonus features on the first film are spectacular from the Your Ohana music video to the Create Your Own Alien Game. My favorite of the bonus features was the Lilo and Stitch Island Adventure games. The gecko race is so much fun! The entire family can get into it and pick a color even the same color and then you get to see whose gecko wins the race! You can also play 2 games with Dr. Hämsterviel the crazy evil hamster and former friend of Jumba.
This is definitely a movie to add to your Disney collection!
I give it a solid A
In Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch had a glitch everyone is adjusting to their new way of life. With Jumba and Pleakely moved into Lilo and Nani’s house and David and Nani finally going out together. Oh and did I mention Stitch now has a glitch that might just cause mass destruction?
Lilo wants to win a hula competition to prove to everyone that she is her mother’s daughter but it might be harder than it looks. Stitch is her right hand man through the entire process but as Stitch starts to get affected by his glitch Lilo starts to lose trust in him. Time flies by and as Lilo gets ready to perform Stitch’s glitch gets out of control. Lilo goes to save him but it’s too late.. Then in true Disney magic he comes back to life from Lilo’s love which coincidentally coincides with the story Lilo was going to dance too all along.
The bonus features on this film also don’t disappoint! We have the music video for Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride by Jump5! If you remember Disney Channel circa 2003 you know who these guys are. Also we have my favorite bonus feature The Origin of Stitch. In this short Jumba explains to Stitch about his origins and how even though he was built to be evil he met Lilo and it softened his heart. Jumba explains how Stitch is his best creation yet and he couldn’t be more proud of him!
I give this film a solid A
