Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy has officially closed its doors to make way for something wickedly exciting! As of yesterday, October 9, the beloved show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios held its final performance. While we say goodbye to the gang from Radiator Springs, there’s a thrilling new chapter on the horizon—a Disney Villains show is set to take over the space at Sunset Showcase.

For the past 5 years, aspiring racers learned what it takes to be a champion from the legendary Lightning McQueen himself. Guests would watch in awe as Lightning used his state-of-the-art racing simulator to demonstrate his skills on a massive wraparound screen. Of course, things didn’t always go smoothly for this seasoned racer, and with the help of his friends, Lightning always managed to get back on track. But now, it’s time for a new era at Sunset Boulevard.
Starting in summer 2025, the creative team at Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious realm of the Magic Mirror. In this all-new live production, your favorite Disney Villains will emerge from the shadows for a fiendish spectacle like no other. Expect to see iconic evildoers like Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent breaking through the glass in dramatic fashion to take the stage for stunning live performances.
