Thanks to the LEGO Ideas program, one Disney fan’s amazing LEGO design is going to be made a reality. Paying tribute to Walt Disney’s 1928 animation, Steamboat Willie was one of the first animated films to be fully synchronized to sound.
The set features a black and white Minifigure Mickey Mouse and a mini-build Steamboat. The boat is complete with a paddle wheel, and steam stack on top. The kit is designed to be tiny, easy to build and suitable for play or display. The original design calls for 156 different bricks, and even the hook at the back of the boat is moveable.
About Lego Ideas
The LEGO Ideas program allows at home users to submit their ideas for LEGO products they’d like to see turned into available sets. The public can then visit LEGO’s website and vote for the projects they like. If a project receives 10,000 votes, it gets submitted to LEGO for official review. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release. They create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run.
