Kevin Feige and Tom Holland Break Silence About Spider-Man Split. After days of silence, both Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland have broken their silence about the Disney-Sony split that will separate Spider-Man from the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

“I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy,” Feige explained to Entertainment Weekly. “We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” Holland shared. “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

There are plenty of reports stating that Disney and Sony are still in negotiations and that Sony has been more willing to talk after stocks began to plummet and investors began to panic after the initial reports came out about the split. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be made between Disney and Sony and that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can stay in the MCU.

Kevin Feige and Tom Holland Break Silence About Spider-Man Split

Sony released a formal statement a few days after the news dropped, after a noticeable dip in stocks for the company following news of the Disney-Sony split and investors became concerned about the future of the studio.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.  We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Though Feige’s involvement in the franchise has seemingly ended, lead man Tom Holland and Director, Jon Watts, are reportedly still contracted for at least 2 more Spider-Man films with Sony. Producer Amy Pascal is said to take over Feige’s role in the Spider-Man films for Sony.

What do you think of the Disney-Sony split? Do you think it’s the end-all-be-all, or do you think they will be able to find a solution that both parties will be happy with? Would you boycott Sony and Sony Pictures if they pull Spider-Man from the MCU? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
