Ken Page, renowned for his stage work and voicing the iconic Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas, has passed away at 70.
The news of his death was shared by his friend Dorian Hannaway, who wrote on Facebook: “Ken Page has passed onto the next show. My heart is broken.”
Born in 1954, Page began his successful theater career in the chorus at The Muny outdoor theater in St. Louis. He later made his Broadway debut in The Wiz and went on to star in productions such as Guys and Dolls, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz, Les Misérables, Little Shop of Horrors, and most notably, Cats, where he played Old Deuteronomy.

On screen, Page appeared in Torch Song Trilogy, All Dogs Go to Heaven, I’ll Do Anything, Shortcut to Happiness, and Dreamgirls. He was best known for voicing Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas, a role he reprised in the Kingdom Hearts video game series.
Following the announcement of his passing, many paid tribute to Page. Actress Shari Belafonte wrote on Facebook: “Ken Page. One of the sweetest, most talented guys on the planet… It’s hard to believe… but it’s true. RIP to all of you brilliant talents.”
Fans also shared their condolences, with one posting on X: “I’m at a loss for words… Not only have we lost a wonderful talent, but also someone who shaped many childhoods. I was lucky enough to meet him earlier this year, and I’ll forever cherish those memories. Rest in peace, Ken Page.”
