“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was well received by critics and quickly became a hit with audiences in 2017. The sequel of the classic 1995 film “Jumanji”, was revered for its mix of action and comedy. Consequently, a new installment to the series has since been in the works with a new addition to the cast just announced.
Veteran actor Danny Glover has been added to the upcoming untitled “Jumanji” project. He’ll be joining the original cast of Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan who will reprise their parts. Glover is best known for his roles in hit films like the Lethal Weapon series. It’s not currently known who he will play in the new chapter and the plot is yet unreleased as well. Sony Pictures had also announced Danny Devito will likewise join the ensemble.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” opened to great fanfare in its initial release. Pushing the film to second place during its first box office weekend. Then, gaining steam from reviews and word of mouth, was able to climb to number one later in it’s run. Ultimately earning $404 million at the domestic box office and $557 million internationally. The movie followed four high school students as they are unwittingly transported into the world of Jumanji via a video game. Taking new forms as characters in the game, they must complete their mission and find a way out. The as yet titled new “Jumanji” is set to release on December 13 of this year. This is one week before the new Star Wars: Episode IX debut, which should make for an interesting holiday movie season.
