Jaleo Opening

Chef José Andrés of Jaleo in Disney Springs has provided millions of free meals to federal workers and natural disaster survivors wants to hire Bonnie Kimball. Bonnie was the New Hampshire cafeteria worker that was fired for giving food to a student who couldn’t afford it.

It was reported that she was fired by the district manager of Café Services, the food services company that employed her, and she was told what she did was “theft.”

The student who couldn’t afford his $8 meal repaid it the next day.

Chef Jose posted this on twitter:

Chef Jose Andrés was named one of the Top 100 most influential people in the world by TIME and you can see why.

So far he is not the only person offering her a job. She was offered her old job back with Café Services and many other people have stepped forward as well. She says, “they’re not doing it for me, they are doing it to save face.”

No word on if she has accepted his generous offer.

  1. I hope she accepts it! I’m a NH PTO mom and I can assure you, our schools would NEVER do something like this. What a disgrace! #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  2. Wow, her employer said she committed theft? Give me a break! She obviously really cares about the kids & was willing to risk her job to give a child a meal when he couldn’t afford it. I’m angry that she was fired, all she did was do what was right! The kid even paid for the meal the next day! Obviously, her employer didn’t have any compassion, but it’s wonderful to see that the fired worker isn’t the only one with a heart. Chef Jose Andres is amazing for giving free food to those that cannot afford it & it was so sweet of him to offer her a job! I’m happy that she was offered her old job back, amongst many others. I hope her employer learned a lesson about compassion, generosity, and empathy. #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  3. I don’t know how that school could have possibly went through such a punishment for someone helping out a kid who needs nourishment to be able to get through school. I remember being in school and sometimes forgetting that my lunch card was low. I’m hoping she gets a job where she can feed people and help. #DisneyVacayGiveaway
