Johnny Depp made his first public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards since the end of his defamation trial with Amber Heard.
Depp appeared near the beginning of the show with his face digitally superimposed into the helmet of a floating moonperson.
The actor joked about needing the work by saying he’s now available to entertain crowds at birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, and more. You can see a glimpse of his cameo on the Instagram link below.

The joke is a reference to Depp’s career trajectory since he was embroiled in the legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
The 2022 MTV Music Awards were co-hosted by Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, and Jack Harlow. Minaj received the Video Vanguard Award, while the Red Hot Chili Peppers were presented with another lifetime-achievement honor, the Global Icon Award.
It may not be the kind of comeback fans expected, but it looks like Johnny Depp is having fun while easing back into the entertainment spotlight.
