Johnny Depp was awarded a medal of honor by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
The 58-year-old actor received the medal on Tuesday for his “outstanding merits in public and cultural activities, especially in film art and the promotion of the Republic of Serbia in the world.”
Johnny Depp addressed personal change during his acceptance speech:
“I’m right now on the verge of a new life and I like it. I like a re-beginning. And I would love for that beginning to start here.”

He even expressed his gratitude after receiving the medal:
“I truly, sincerely thank you, President Vučić, and this medal of merit, if I am given the honor to walk away with this, I thank you for being kind enough to bestow it upon me.”
The event took place during a celebration of Serbian Statehood Day in Belgrade, Serbia. The Pirates of the Caribbean star has shot the film Minimata and animated series Puffins in the country in recent years.
