Johnny Depp lined up a massive payday for a sixth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie before it got canceled.
Depp’s talent manager, Jack Whigham, made the claim about the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 deal during questioning by Depp’s lawyer during the trial today.
The fifth “Pirates” film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” was released in 2017. Plus, Depp says the creative team asked him to take part in writing the screenplay for the sixth “Pirates” movie.
The question of Depp’s deal for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is particularly relevant to Depp’s case against Heard.
Last week, Depp’s attorney sought to establish how Depp was still interested in making the sixth installment in the franchise in late 2018.
“My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye. There’s a way to end a franchise like that… I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”

Summary of Prior Events
To sum up years worth of legal issues, after Depp and Heard’s divorce, The Sun ran an article claiming Depp to be a ‘wife-beater” and helping Heard’s career by allowing her to claim victimhood due to their tremulous relationship. Heard later went on the write an Op-Ed Article with The Washington Post besmirching Depp’s name and making accusatory claims against the actor further tarnishing his career and causing him to be dropped from several large franchise opportunities including Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Beasts.
