The Tower of Terror movie reboot, starring Scarlett Johansson and directed by Taika Waititi, is still in the works
Confession: I am a huge Tower of Terror fan. As an Orlando-area local, I ride the Tower of Terror often, Tower of Terror merch (including shirts and coffee cups) adorns my home, and I even own the 1997 film starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst on DVD. To say I was a bit sad when news broke that the Tower of Terror movie re-boot may be canceled would be an understatement.
Luckily, this does not seem to be the case. When Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney was settled back in 2021, it was reported the Tower of Terror film was not dropped by Disney, and comicbook.com is now reporting plans for the film are still progressing.

The update comes from Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman, who confirmed a number of projects involving Scarlett Johansson are still in the works, including the Tower of Terror. The movie is slated to star Scarlett Johansson, with Taika Waititi directing.
Johansson and Waititi previously collaborated on the 2019 film Jojo Rabbit. IMDB cites John August and Josh Cooley as writers for the film. No further details about the Tower of Terror film, including casting or a potential release date, have been announced by Disney.
