Joe Rohde Shares Sunrise from Pandora on Recent Trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Legendary Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde took to Instagram recently to share a breathtaking image of the sunrise over Pandora – The World of Avatar, captured during his latest visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Known for his deep connection to the park, Rohde’s photo gave fans a glimpse of the magical world he helped create. Along with the stunning visual, he took a moment to extend his thoughts to those in the path of Hurricane Milton, which was approaching Florida at the time of his post, wishing everyone safety and well-being.

As one of the visionaries behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Joe Rohde’s influence on the park is unmistakable. Retiring in 2021 after an impressive 40-year career with Walt Disney Imagineering, Joe was the creative force behind the park’s design, including major expansions like Expedition Everest and Pandora – The World of Avatar. His dedication to narrative placemaking has cemented Animal Kingdom as a place where conservation, nature, and immersive storytelling intertwine seamlessly.

A member of the 2024 Class of Disney Legends, Joe’s career has left an indelible mark on the Disney parks. Beyond Animal Kingdom, he contributed to iconic projects like The Adventurers Club, Aulani Resort in Hawai’i, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney’s California Adventure. His journey with Disney began humbly in 1980 as a model builder for EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion, but his passion for art, culture, and storytelling soon propelled him to greater heights.
