Sinclair Brings Back Jimmy Kimmel’s Late-Night Show

Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns and operates nearly 40 ABC stations, has given in to pressure and reversed its decision and will stop preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Sinclair announced it will bring the show back to its ABC stations starting Friday, September 26, according to CNBC.

In a public statement, Sinclair noted, “Over the last week, we have received thoughtful feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders representing a wide range of perspectives. We have also witnessed troubling acts of violence, including the despicable incident of a shooting at an ABC affiliate station in Sacramento. These events underscore why responsible broadcasting matters and why respectful dialogue between differing voices remains so important.”

Despite the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to the air on Tuesday, Sinclair initially stated it would continue to preempt the show. The program had been suspended indefinitely by the broadcaster starting September 17, 2025, following a comment made by host Jimmy Kimmel. During the show, Kimmel stated, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Nexstar, which owns about 30 ABC stations, continues to preempt the show.
