Jeremy Renner Tells Sony To Return Spider-Man to the MCU

Jeremy Renner Tells Sony To Return Spider-Man to the MCU. Hawkeye is not happy about the reported split between Disney and Sony over the use of Spider-Man and is now calling out Sony to return the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to Marvel Studios and the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) with a high amount of support from fans around the world.

Jeremy Renner shared the post via his Instagram account, @renner4real stating, “Hey, [Sony] we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and [Marvel Studios] please, Thank you.”

Renner will continue in his role as Hawkeye in an exclusive Disney+ Series called, Hawkeye.

Fans are flocking behind the sharp shooter and begging Sony to reconsider their decision, with some fans even saying they want to storm Sony’s HQ  and force the film studio to return Spider-Man to the MCU. The response online has been far from friendly with many NSFW comments and posts being targeted at Sony and Sony Pictures. A milder response from fans has been a “We Hate You 3000” smear campaign against Sony that mimics the “We Love You 3000” campaign being hosted by Marvel Studios to celebrate Marvel Fans after the major success of Avengers: Endgame.

Sony is the only party to release a formal statement regarding the reported split. The statement reads:,

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.  We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Though Feige’s involvement in the franchise has seemingly ended, lead man Tom Holland and Director, Jon Watts, are reportedly still contracted for at least 2 more Spider-Man films. Producer Amy Pascal is said to take over Feige’s role in the Spider-Man films for Sony.

There are plenty of reports stating that Disney and Sony are still in negotiations and that Sony has been more willing to talk after stocks began to plummet and investors began to panic after the initial reports came out about the split. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be made between Disney and Sony and that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can stay in the MCU.
