Jelani Alladin Cast in the Upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Disney+ Live-Action Series

Television and Broadway star Jelani Alladin has joined the cast of the upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live-action series coming to Disney+. Alladin is best known by fans for his work on The Walking Dead, Frozen: The Musical, Hercules: The Musical, tick, tick… BOOM!, and Law & Order. Now, the fan-favorite actor will join Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Briana Middleton, and Fra Fee in the series. The musical series will feature 8-episodes and will be a prequel to the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie from 2017. A synopsis for the series reads:

“Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance, the series will follow Gaston (Evans) and LeFou (Gad) as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly (Middleton), after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.“

Alladin will portray a new character named Jean-Michel who is “Charming. Cool. A talented artist who has a quick wit, a sharp intellect, and a fierce independent streak.”

The Beauty and the Beast series was developed and written by Josh Gad with the assistance of Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Once Upon a Time) with Liesl Tommy sign on as an executive producer and director for the series pilot episode for Disney.
