Great news Joy and Sadness fans: Disney and Pixar have unveiled a sneak peek of the highly-anticipated Inside Out sequel, ‘Inside Out 2.’ The first glimpse of the follow-up to the 2015 animated hit has shattered records, making it the most significant animated trailer launch in Disney’s storied history.

Within 24 hours of its release, the trailer, which invites viewers back into the roller coaster of emotions within teenage Riley’s mind, clocked a staggering 157 million views. This astonishing feat dethrones the previous record holder, ‘Frozen 2,’ which held Disney’s top spot since 2019. ‘Inside Out 2’ has also racked up 78 million views in TikTok in just 1 day. Disney has launched a first of its kind TikTok content hub in commemoration of Disney’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Pete Docter, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, expressed his elation at the overwhelming response, saying, “We are thrilled so many people have tuned in to check out the new trailer for Inside Out 2.” He acknowledged the film’s unique concept, stating that when the original ‘Inside Out’ was conceived, the creators knew they had tapped into a wellspring of possibilities. “There would be so much more to explore than we could possibly fit into one film,” Docter noted.

One undeniable factor contributing to the trailer’s immense popularity is the introduction of a new character, Anxiety. Voiced by Maya Hawke, this frazzled yet endearing orange emotion joins a star-studded cast, including Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.

‘Inside Out 2’ is slated to hit theaters exclusively on June 14, 2024.
