Innoventions West at Epcot Set to Close in April

Innoventions West

Have you heard the news Chip and Co fans? Innoventions West at Epcot is set to close on April 30, 2015.

“We’ve reached the end of our sponsorship agreements with the exhibitors in Innoventions West and will temporarily close the space in early May to begin preparing for a new experience,” a Disney spokeswoman said Friday.

All three exhibits located inside Innoventions West (Think, presented by IBM; The Great Piggy Bank Adventure, presented by T. Rowe Price; and Where’s the Fire?, presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance) have reached the end of their sponsorship agreement with Walt Disney World and are being removed.

No word yet on what will be replacing those exhibits, or even if that building will still be Innoventions West when it reopens.

Disney has also not announced if the Disney Visa Meet ‘n Greet for Disney Visa Cardholders, currently located inside Innoventions West, will be moving to a new location or if it will be completely removed as well.

Are you upset to see this building closing and those attractions being permanently removed?  What do you hope Disney replaces it with?

Do you want to visit Innoventions West one more time before it closes?  Or maybe you want to plan a trip for later in the year to see what is going into that building?  I’d love to help you plan your Walt Disney World Vacation!  I am a Travel Magician with World of Magic Travel, the preferred agency of Chip and the Disney Addicts. 1. I was told by the first person that they just had 22-29, no exact date on any of them, they even showed hours in May, but she knew that wasn’t right. Transferred me to someone else and I was told the last day was the 29. I asked if that meant I could still go in on the 29, or would it be closed? No idea. I leave for Disney on April 24, so I’ll call closer to the date, but will get to Epcot by the 29 now.

  2. I’m excited to see what Disney has up their sleeve next! But I will be super dissapointed if there is no DRVC meet and greet. That is one of our favorite perks of the card. Here’s hoping that they relocate it until IV WEST opens again.

  3. “Where’s the Fire” is a great place for the kids….I hope they recreate something similar somewhere else (perhaps Innoventions East?). Disney needs more areas like that where kids can learn something that might, one day, save their lives.

    The rest of it I won’t miss….

  4. I’m glad they’re changing it, but I don’t want it to be just another character spot or just a movie promo attraction. Get back to the spirit of Innoventions: tomorrow’s technology, ideas, etc. and how you can use it.

  5. Innoventions is a combination Innovate and Inventions. By definition, it should be changing constantly. Look up pictures of Innoventions when it first opened. I remember going in and using the OLD computers that they had with the touch screens to draw pictures when that was the new thing. The whole idea behind IV WEST is that it is constantly changing and updating. Showing us what the future is… I mean, it is Future World, if they are not constantly changing at this point they would be, at best, Present World. Heck, Im just waiting for them to actually do something with the empty pavilion near Universe of Energy (Elen’s Energy Adventure).

  6. I understand change happens, but it seems like SO MANY things are being changed or are under construction all at once. We are planning a visit for Spring of 2016 and I am a bit nervous with all the changes in Epcot, DHS and AK currently happening. It seems like a big chunk of all 3 of those parks will be “under construction” during our visit. I love Magic Kingdom, but I love the other 3 parks as well.

  7. I’ve never been in there. Hope they keep the Disney Meet n Greet somewhere so I can visit next time. I need a picture with Mickey!

  8. how do we find out if they will be open on April 30, and be closing at night for good? We plan to be there on the 30, but will rearrange our schedule if the last day is actually the 29th
