Today Disney officially announced that the Marvel Studios film “Inhumans” is being pulled from its release date calendar for the time being. Marvel hasn’t said that the project is completely dead, so it could be possibly that the project will be on the back burner for a while, but maybe will be made eventually.
No official reason was given, but it is speculated that the pull from Marvel’s release schedule could be due to many additional films that have been added to the schedule since the initial announcement of “Inhumans”. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” on July 7, 2017, “Ant Man and the Wasp” July 6, 2018. Also, the fifth “Indiana Jones” has a release date that would have been the weekend following “Inhumans” (July 19, 2019). With such a big project as a fifth Indiana Jones movie being just a week after “Inhumans”, it only makes sense to give it a different date to spread out box office competition.
It seems “Inhumans” may miss phase 3.0 of the Marvel Expanded Universe, but maybe we’ll hear word on the project for phase 4.0!
