Imagineer Pitched Gravity Falls Mystery Shack Attraction for Disneyland
Former Disney Imagineer, Brandon Kleyla, recently shared that he once pitched a Gravity Falls Mystery Shack attraction for Disneyland. He also shared that his idea wasn’t well received.
Kleyla’s idea would’ve put the new attraction in the area that was formerly Big Thunder Ranch. That area was later bulldozed and became part of Start Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Kleyla’s post on Instagram about the Gravity Falls attraction reads:
“The things you find while cleaning out storage… This was an idea I pitched and they looked at me like I was insane. I have vivid memories of that meeting where I was asked some of the dumbest questions I’ve ever been asked. It’s a shame the show finally found its popularity after it had been cancelled, right @alexhirsch! We could have had so much fun! Oh well, another idea on the pile of forgotten ideas.”
Gravity Falls aired from 2012 to 2016 on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The series follows the adventures of Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel who are sent to spend the summer with their great-uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon, a mysterious town full of paranormal incidents and supernatural creatures. The kids help Stan run the “Mystery Shack”, the tourist trap that he owns, while also investigating the local mysteries.
Kleyla is best known for being the Imagineer behind Trader Sam’s at both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. He now works with Universal Creative.
