After a long hiatus, the beloved female ice skating figure has returned to the first scene of Walt Disney World’s version of the ride, bringing a dash of nostalgia and delight to observant Disney-goers.

Conceived for the 1964 New York World’s Fair and later replicated at Disneyland Park, “it’s a small world” was among the opening day attractions at Magic Kingdom. It takes guests on a whimsical journey around the globe, highlighting a universal message of harmony. The attraction’s bright and childlike visuals were heavily influenced by Disney artist Mary Blair, and the iconic theme song is the work of the legendary Sherman Brothers.

Over the years, several of the ride’s animatronic dolls have required periodic maintenance.
