Walt Disney World offers a huge variety of dining options, from snack stands to full 5 course meals with wine pairings and everything in between! Figuring out where to eat can be a difficult decision, and there are a lot of factors to consider. Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers many delicious dining choices, and it’s just a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, making it the perfect place to go for a meal and a chance to relax and unwind after a long day of rides and fun at MK.

The Contemporary Resort is one of WDW’s Deluxe Resorts, which means it can be pricy to stay at, but it also means that it has more to offer it’s guests, especially when it comes to food!

If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, you can can head over to Contempo Cafe, the Resort’s Counter Service eatery offering the standard omelettes/breakfast platters for breakfast, an assortment of cold and hot sandwiches and salads for lunch, and flatbreads and pastas for dinner. They also offer a variety of ‘grab n’go’ items as well as assorted beverages and a kid’s menu.

When it comes to Table Service meals, the Contemporary has some great choices. If you want to dine with some of your favorite characters, check out Chef Mickey’s, where they serve a buffet style breakfast featuring Mickey waffles, fresh fruits, and delicious omelettes, and dinner, which offers carved meats (ham, turkey, roast beef etc), Mickey shaped raviolis, and assorted desserts (including an ice cream sundae bar!). The characters make their way around the dining room to each table, and are happy to pose for pictures and autographs and hugs. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto are all in attendance here, in their chef outfits. It’s a fun time, great for kids and adults alike!

The Wave is a casual table service restaurant that servers breakfast, lunch and dinner and features some healthy eating options as well as local produce. Breakfast is either a la carte or a buffet style meal, and includes house made granola and sweet potato pancakes. Lunch and dinner feature sustainable fish dishes, grilled meat, and vegetarian options, as well as some unique cocktails and an eclectic wine list. They change-up the menu pretty frequently here based on the season and what is fresh, so it’s a great place to try something new.

On the 15th floor is where the Contemporary’s Signature Dining restaurant is located – the California Grill offers you the chance to see your food being prepared in their open kitchen. Sushi, flatbread, steak, seafood, pork tenderloin – the choices are all delectable AND delicious. Pair them with one of their amazing California wines, and finish off your meal with some house-made ice cream, and you’re sure to have a pleasurable dining experience. While you’re waiting for your meal, you can head out to one of the observation decks for some amazing views of the Magic Kingdom (this is an especially popular thing to do when it’s time for the fireworks to begin!). It’s a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or just the fact that you’re in Walt Disney World!  Please note– the California Grill will be closing in early 2013 for an extensive renovation – it will reopen sometime in the summer of 2013 – at which time I am sure there will be some great new menu items to try!

In addition to all the options above, The Contemporary also has 2 pool bars that serve assorted sandwiches and snacks, as well as a coffee bar. So the moral of the story is, you won’t go hungry when you’re at the Contemporary!

What about you – have you tried any of the Contemporary Resorts dining options? What did you think?
