Hugh Jackman Addresses Rumors About His Return as Wolverine in the MCU

Hugh Jackman Addresses Rumors About His Return as Wolverine in the MCU. For years Hugh Jackman has not shied away from stating that he has hung up the claws as Logan / The Wolverine after his performance in Logan. Jackman has gone on to many projects following his time as a superhero and is focused on creating new stories without letting his past dictate his future career. That being said, the star is known to tease fans once in a while and make us question if he really is done with the role.

Currently, the Broadway, Hollywood, and Australian Super Star is preparing for the premiere of his new film, Reminiscence, which focuses on a scientist who discovers a way to relive your past and uses the technology to search for his long-lost love. Whilst a private investigator uncovers a conspiracy while helping his clients recover lost memories.

During a recent interview on Jake’s Takes, Jackman was asked if he may return to his previous role as Logan / The Wolverine as we get closer to seeing the X-Men join the MCU, to which Hugh promptly shared he has not been invited by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige yet, and more than likely is truly done with the role.

“I’m hearing about this from you [Hamilton], and there’s nothing in my inbox from Kevin Feige means it’s probably, no matter what idea I came up with, not on the table,” he elaborated, “Let’s just be clear that, but now, I realized, before we shot Logan, I was like, we got the idea. We knew what it was going to be-ish, right? And I thought this is it. And that really helped me, it really helped knowing I was going into my last season, that it was my last season that I made the most of it. And it’s still a character I hold close to my heart. But I know it’s done. Tell that to whoever you want to. Please tell it to Ryan [Reynolds]. Because he’s like, doesn’t believe anything’s [impossible] I’m joking, please.”

As disappointing as this may be for fans who truly can only see Hugh as the rightful Logan, Jackman has previously shared that the physical work that goes into the role is nearly impossible to do at his age (and this was a few years back!) and with his focus renewed on returning to the theater, running his various businesses, and creating new stories that challenge cinema as a whole, it’s easy to say that despite our greatest hopes, he has put away the claws for good.
