If you have ever watched a giraffe stroll by on safari and thought, “Wait… how exactly does this work?” Disney just handed you a backstage pass. The latest installment of “Imagineer That!” on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel follows Tom Morrow 2.0 as he ventures into Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to tackle a question we have all secretly wondered: how do you keep the lions away from the rhinos?

The answer is part science, part storytelling, and fully Imagineering. While it may look like one wide open savanna, the habitats are carefully designed with natural barriers like rock formations and hidden moats. These features create safe boundaries without breaking the illusion of animals roaming freely together. On top of that, enrichment areas and treat stations gently guide animals toward specific spots, giving them space to relax while keeping the safari adventure seamless for guests.

It is a clever blend of wildlife care and immersive design, and this episode does a fantastic job showing how the magic is built from the ground up. For aspiring Imagineers, or anyone who just loves a good behind the scenes peek, this series continues to deliver bite sized doses of park magic with a side of real world engineering.
