Hollywood Studios Changes Morning Entry Procedures for All Guests

Guests heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will notice a significant change in the morning entry procedure, making the start of their day at the park smoother and more accessible for everyone. Previously, only Disney Resort hotel guests were allowed to pass through the tap points ahead of the park’s official opening time, while non-resort guests had to wait outside the main entrance. But now, all guests can begin entering the park as early as 8:00 am, regardless of where they’re staying.

For a park scheduled to open at 9:00 am, this means all visitors are able to pass through the entry tap points an hour earlier, giving them extra time to soak in the park’s atmosphere before the attractions officially open. However, there are still perks reserved for Disney Resort hotel guests, who can access designated checkpoints and enter attraction lines starting at 8:00 am for the Early Entry benefit. Checkpoints are located at Sunset Boulevard, Grand Avenue for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the entrance to Toy Story Land. Meanwhile, non-resort guests are held at these points until the park fully opens at 9:00 am.

This update brings back a more relaxed, pre-pandemic experience, where all guests can explore areas like Hollywood Boulevard or grab a coffee from Trolley Car Café before jumping into the action. For resort guests, the early entry perk remains a great way to enjoy a head start on popular rides like Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash. Meanwhile, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, located before any checkpoints, remains accessible to all guests, though only resort guests can ride before the 9:00 am opening.
