Scaffolding Surrounds Hogwarts Castle for Essential Exterior Maintenance
If you are planning a trip to Universal Islands of Adventure, you might notice that the iconic Hogwarts Castle is currently sporting a bit of a “muggle” makeover.

The centerpiece of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade is undergoing a large-scale exterior refurbishment. As of early April, extensive scaffolding wrapped in neutral gray scrim has been erected around the structure, nearly hiding the towering spires and the Great Hall from view
While the sightlines for those classic castle photos are temporarily interrupted, there is good news for aspiring witches and wizards: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey remains fully operational. Guests can still enter the castle to experience the immersive queue and ride the attraction without any changes to the interior experience.
This project appears to be a comprehensive effort to refresh and maintain the castle’s facade, which faces constant exposure to the Florida elements. While Universal has not yet announced an official completion date, current estimates suggest the work could continue through much of the year.
If you’re visiting soon, you’ll still find all the shops, dining, and butterbeer you love in Hogsmeade—just be prepared for a slightly different view of the school of witchcraft and wizardry!
