‘Hocus Pocus‘ To Air 27 Times During Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween. As the countdown to Halloween ticks down, anticipation is high for the spookiest time of year. Fans of the cult classic, Hocus Pocus, will be delighted to know that the Sanderson Sister’s are back! (And for a record breaking time.)
The film is still so popular, Disney incorporated a special show called ‘Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular‘, which has been a staple during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at The Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World since 2015.
“Freeform will be doubling down on their commitment to Halloween and will be making this year’s ‘31 Nights of Halloween’ programming stunt even bigger,” the network revealed in a press release from May 2019. “Freeform will break its own record of the number of times one network can air Hocus Pocus, in a programming stunt with a record for 27 broadcasts of the cult classic.”
In a synopsis of the film, romper.com states, ” The film tells the story of teen siblings Max (Omri Katz) and Dani (Thora Birch) Dennison, who move to Salem, Massachusetts. Along with their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw), the siblings come up on an abandoned old house, and accidentally unleash a coven of evil witches, the Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy), who plan to suck the soul out of Salem’s children. With the help of Thackerey Binx — a man who was once a wizard but is now a magical cat — the kids try to stop the sisters from becoming immortal, so they devise a plan to steal the witches’ book of spells.”
Disney and Freeform have yet to share a schedule for the ‘31 Nights of Halloween‘, but have said titles such as Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, The Nightmare before Christmas, and the Scream trilogy will be returning to the TV holiday special event in 2019.
We will likely see a schedule for this years ’31 Nights of Halloween’ in the coming weeks leading up to the Halloween season.
How many times do you plan on watching Hocus Pocus this October? What is your favorite moment of the cult classic?
