‘Hocus Pocus‘ Has Returned to Theaters and Put a Spell on the Box Office. As movie theaters begin to reopen across the nation, Disney quietly re-released the cult classic Hocus Pocus in theaters. The film caught the attention of moviegoers and raked in an additional $1.6-$1.8 Million USD over the first weekend of October, coming in second at the box office behind Tenet. Hocus Pocus is expected to remain in theaters for the remainder of the Halloween season.
Currently, a sequel to the 1993 Disney Classic is in the works for Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+. Though no formal casting decisions have been made at this time, the original Sanderson Sisters, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, have all been very vocal about their interest in reprising their respective roles as Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson.
Director Adam Shankman has been tapped to helm the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus sequel, with Jen D’Angelo penning the script. No official casting choices have been announced at the time of writing. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Disney!
