Help "Protect The Pride" With Disney's Kilimanjaro Safari Expedition

In anticipation of Disney’s latest live-action film “The Lion King” Disney has released their newest Caring for Animals episode. This episode is all about Disney’s African lions. In this video Lori, an animal care expert at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, talks about what makes these magnificent animals so unique.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom animal experts like Lori are helping to care and protect the lions daily. With the media attention of Disney’s “The Lion King” film opening July 19th Disney is promoting their newest campaign “The Lion King: Protect the Pride” campaign.

What is “Protect the Pride” Campaign

What is the “Protect the Pride” campaign? Disney with support from the Wildlife Conservation Network’s (WCN) Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) hope to double the number of lions in the wild by 2050. Since the animated version of “The Lion King” hit theaters 25 years ago Africa has sadly lost half its lions. In fact, there are less than 20,000 lions remaining. Disney is committed to take action and you can help!

How can you help?

You can help “Protect the Pride” by getting everyone you know, all your family and friends, and getting to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney has said that for every guest who rides the Kilimanjaro Safaris Expedition at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida during opening week of “The Lion King”  (July 19 – 25, 2019), Disney Conservation Fund will donate $2 (up to $350,000) to WCN’s LRF’s efforts to help double the number of lions across Africa by 2050.

You must have a valid park ticket to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to ride Kilimanjaro Safari. This is an amazing way to help do your part and “Protect the Pride”. We encourage everyone that’s able to head over to Animal Kingdom during those dates of July 19-25 and ride for the pride!
