HBO Max’s Dune Prequel Begins Filming
Filming has begun for the HBO Max “Dune” prequel series.
Emmy-winning director Johan Renck, who will helm the first two episodes, recently took to Instagram to reveal that filming on Dune: The Sisterhood began on Tuesday, November 22nd.

The HBO Max prequel series is set 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert’s original novel and will focus on the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the titular sisterhood who possess mysterious supernatural abilities.
Dune: The Sisterhood will star Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, Indira Varma, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, and Chloe Lea. Diane Ademu-John serves as creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer. Alison Schapker is co-showrunner and executive producer. The series will be written by returning franchise writer Jon Spaihts, with Diane Ademu-John as showrunner.
Dune: The Sisterhood does not have a release date yet since filming just began, but Dune: Part Two opens in theaters on November 3rd, 2023.
