Haunted Mansion Tower Now Wrapped in Additional Scrim at Magic Kingdom

Construction continues creeping across the eerie estate at Magic Kingdom, as the central tower of the Haunted Mansion has now been wrapped in additional scaffolding and scrim. The spooky refurbishment has slowly expanded over the past several weeks, with much of the mansion’s exterior already hidden behind construction walls and themed scrim panels.

The newest addition surrounds the attraction’s tallest tower, which now sits behind scaffolding covered in solid green scrim. While most of the existing scrim around the mansion features printed images designed to resemble the attraction’s façade, this new section is currently plain green and could eventually be replaced with themed scrim to better blend with the surroundings.

Even with the construction setup in place, one familiar detail still rises above the refurbishment. The mansion’s iconic bat-shaped weathervane remains visible, peeking over the top of the scrim and scaffolding like a silent sentinel watching over Liberty Square.

Despite the exterior work, the Haunted Mansion itself remains open to guests during construction. Earlier this year, Disney filed permits related to the attraction and crews cleared plants from the front lawn. Construction activity had already been visible in the attraction’s graveyard queue for several months before the work expanded to the front of the mansion.

The timing of the project is particularly interesting given the attraction’s location next to the future Piston Peak National Park expansion, a new Cars-themed area replacing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. While rumors suggest the mansion may receive a small extension related to the new land, there are currently no indications that the attraction’s classic façade or story will see major changes.
